Broken Part Seven

Broken Part Seven

Skeeter led the way towards the cabin along the trails that no tourists wished to travel. Now Erica traveled it but wasn’t even awake to appreciate the views she would be passing. Ronnie was right behind Skeeter on the trail but his mind was elsewhere as he was trying to figure out how all this could work out with a good ending for everyone involved. He knew that the chances of that happening were slim to none if the past was any indication. He wasn’t even sure why they were taking Erica to the cabin other than Skeeter likely thought he could have some fun with her before they killed her. Ronnie knew he would not let Skeeter do that but wasn’t sure he was ready for the battle with Skeeter either. So maybe he would just let him have his way with her as it really didn’t matter if she was going to be dead anyway. Skeeter could have his fun and all would be well between them and wasn’t that what really mattered in the end? There was no way she could be allowed to get away from them as that would mean their demise and likely the uncovering of things that just should remain buried where they belong in the past. So why was he wasting his time thinking of other options when in the end there was truly only one option after he had decided to crash that Saab. He had made the choice right then that left only one option after that possible, it all had to be erased as it had always been before. The car gone and the people in the car needed to be gone too. He knew that was the only option left to them now even as he looked at Erica’s blonde hair flowing in the wind as Skeeter sped down the trail in front of him.

The trail started to go up the mountain towards the cabin which overlooked the valley from a nice secluded spot. It was truly a perfect place to spend time but the history in the cabin was less than peaceful. Years ago this was the place they took the bodies of the tourists that had been knocked off the road before burying them in pieces throughout the trail system that led to and from the cabin in many different directions. All of the truckers knew of the cabin and knew of its history as well but many still came here to use the cabin for hunting or fishing or maybe just to get away from the wife for a night or two. Ronnie knew Skeeter used the place quite a lot but he had not been there himself since his own crash. It felt odd going there now but he had no choice and he reminded himself that he was the one who had made that decision.

As they neared the top of the mountain a light rain began to fall. Being in the woods had covered up the fact that the day was turning cloudy and rain was moving in on them. It really didn’t change anything but would just mean things would be a little muddy when they went back to begin taking care of the car and the man left in the car who hopefully would be dead by the time they returned. If not he would be dead before they left. Ronnie knew he had hit him hard and hoped it was hard enough to finish the job right then and there. Afterall wasn’t it his fault for pissing Ronnie off to begin with? If he had just not pulled out in front of him then this never would have ever happened. Ronnie felt an urge to go back and finish him off right now but knew that they needed to take care of Erica first.

Skeeter stopped his 4 wheeler in front of the cabin and Ronnie stopped right behind him. Erica was still out cold on the back of Skeeter’s 4 wheeler despite the rain falling on her and the noise from the machines. They took her inside and Skeeter pointed towards one of the beds. Ronnie gave Skeeter a look but laid her there anyway. Skeeter quickly tired her to the bed posts as Ronnie watched. Skeeter finished that up quickly and there was no way she would be going anywhere with the knots he had tied. They left the room and went to the main room of the cabin where they took seats at the table. “What are we doing Skeeter? She should be dead already.” “Ronnie, Ronnie relax a bit. Have a brewski or two and then let’s have a little fun with this one. You know you have never had a piece so sweet as that woman in there my man. Can’t even buy a piece like that in Portland Ronnie. So no worries okay. We will take care of her after we have a little fun man.” Ronnie looked straight through Skeeter as if he wanted to rip him apart and that made Skeeter feel a bit uncomfortable. “Hey Ronnie I can’t take off man and let you deal with all this shit by yourself. I don’t need this crap anyway.” Skeeter got up but before he had a chance to move Ronnie flew across the table and grabbed him by the collar of his jacket. “You know how this works you little asshole. So cut this crap out. We will both do what we need to do and you know that.” Skeeter grabbed Ronnie’s arm and pulled it away from his neck. “Fine Ron then let’s just get on with it. You lead the way but you know you need me to help. So I say leave the girl here and decide what to do with her after. That is at least fair to me. She isn’t going anywhere Ronnie.” Ronnie sat back in a chair and sighed loudly. He looked at Skeeter and knew that he had to give a little here as there was no way he could do all of this by himself. So he agreed to Skeeter’s idea of leaving Erica here alive while they went to take care of the man and the car. They had reached an agreement and decided to have a bite to eat before heading back to the car. Ron went to use the outhouse and when he returned he saw Skeeter caressing Erica’s face and his temper began to rise before he knew how to stop it. A few quick unplanned strides later and he was throwing Skeeter across the room. “I told you we would think about it!! So leave her the fuck alone for now!!!” Skeeter looked up at Ronnie from his knew position on the floor. “Man you have changed. If you want first crack at her then just say so but cut out the acting like you care shit. You knocked the fucking car of the road. They had to be brought here anyway before we got rid of em. I just wanted a little fun with her first Ronnie and when we get back that is what I am going to do rather you like it or not. It is my reward for helping your ass out. Got it.” Ronnie didn’t really know how to respond to Skeeter because part of him agreed and part of him wanted to rip Skeeter apart as well. He took a deep breath and left the room with Skeeter right behind him. They quietly ate and then began to get ready to head back to the car. Erica was still not awake as they left for the now wet and muddy ride back to the car.

The rain came through the broken windows of the Saab and eventually made its way to Jed. He woke from the cold fluid running down his neck. He thought at first it was blood but then felt it and saw it was not blood. His head was pounding and he knew he had quite a lump from whatever he had been it with by the men who were here… he suddenly tenses as he remembered what had happened. He called for Erica over and over but nothing was heard. He knew he was yelling in vain. He tried to move but he couldn’t. He started to scream and pounded on the steering wheel. Then he grabbed it and shook it for all he was worth over and over again. He went on for what seemed like forever and finally gave up. As he slammed himself back into his seat it moved a little. He then wondered if somehow the battery was still powering his seat and if it would move enough to free him. Jed tried to reach the controls but the seat seemed squished against the door and his hands barely fit. He fingered the fist button he found and pushed but it did nothing. He tried a second and nothing……… he was giving up hope. He was stuck!! He was frustrated, scared, tired, and could not stop thinking of Erica. Where had they taken her? He knew he needed to find her somehow. Suddenly he heard a noise in the distance and it took a few seconds for it to register that it was at least one 4 wheeler. His heart began to race and his adrenaline began to flow. He did not know if it was the same guy that was here before but he knew if it was that it was not a good thing for him. He needed tog et out of the car and fast but how could he manage that as his legs were stuck. The sound only grew louder with each passing second. He had to get out now.
