Broken Part Ten

Broken Part Ten

Jed hustled down the slope towards the Saab and was hoping to make it past that point quickly before the two men could catch up to him. He knew they came on 4-wheelers and figured he could leave on one of them if he beat them there. He began to lose his balance and tumbled down the hill. Ronnie and Skeeter heard the noise and immediately headed towards it as quickly as they could without falling themselves. They made it to the bottom of the hill and looked for Jed as they were sure he would be laying there injured. The noise of the 4-wheeler starting was a sound they knew too well and they looked at each other knowing they had made yet another mistake. They turned and ran towards the place they had left the 4-wheelers. Jed wanted to try and disable the second machine but just could not seem to find get anything to come loose and he was more concerned with getting one started so he could get away quickly. He got one going and quickly started to work the machine with a herky jerky motion of starts and stops. He finally figured it out as he saw Ronnie burst through the woods in front of him on the trail. Jed gave it all the gas it had and tried to run down Ronnie but missed as he dove out of the way just in time. Skeeter tripped over Ronnie who landed in front of him and went flying into the trail behind the 4-wheeler. He was sprayed with mud as he tried to figure out what was happening. Jed didn’t bother to look back as he knew they would be after him soon enough. They knew the trail he assumed and that was a big advantage for them. He just kept moving and hoped he could find Erica or someone to help him. Ronnie scrambled to his feet and began to run towards the remaining 4-wheeler when suddenly he was flying through the air again as Skeeter had swung his legs in front of Ronnie. As Ronnie landed and rolled across the trail, he heard Skeeter laughing wildly as he hoped on the 4-wheeler that was left. He didn’t wait for Ronnie to get up before he had the machine moving quickly in the direction of the 4-wheeler that was now ahead of him on the trail. Ronnie saw Skeeter coming towards him and rolled out of the way as he expected Skeeter to stop and pick him up. Skeeter did not stop for Ronnie as he motored down the trail after the other machine. Ronnie rose to his feet and brushed off the dirt as he tried to take in what had just happened to him. Now he was alone in the woods with no easy way back to the cabin or to his truck either. He had a huge problem on his hands and now no easy way to solve it. Plus Skeeter on the loose and likely heading back to the cabin where he would be alone with the girl. Ronnie could not believe his luck and began to run up the trail. Skeeter would pay for this and he would make sure that the woman did not have to suffer from Skeeter for very long. In fact he may just have to take of Skeeter also and find a way to blame it on these two Massholes.

Erica heard a 4-wheeler coming towards her on the trail and quickly hobbled off to the side to try too avoid being seen. She saw a large boulder and hid behind it enough so she could see the trail but not be seen from the trail. She was shaking with fear as she was sure it would be those men coming back to check on her in the cabin. They could not find her out here as she was sure it would mean her death. She had to stay safe and get help.

The 4-wheeler crested the hill in front of Erica and she saw it was Jed on the machine. She yelled but he could not hear her over the sound of the machine as he raced past where she was without ever seeing her. She tried to make her way to the trail in hopes that he would see her if he only turned his head around towards her. She was struggling to get back to the trail as she was not able to maneuver very well. She finally made it too the trail and watched as Jed faded from her view but the sound of his 4-wheeler did not seem to be fading. She shook her head trying to get the cobwebs out that she assumed where the culprit of her hearing the 4-wheeler get louder despite the fact it was moving further away. It just didn’t make sense and then it did make sense as she turned to see Skeeter and his sinful grin speeding towards her.
