A Mountain of a Game

A Mountain of a Game

This game is so very different.
Different than any other I have ever played.
Yet it is the same in many ways.
The challenge, the feeling of success.
Working hard to get to an end.
This game has it all and then some.

There are no limits on how many times you can play.
No time limits and no pace but your own.
Yet this game will push you to your limits.

The mountain is there today and will be there long after we are gone.
It doesn’t offer any praise for making it to the top.
It doesn’t cast you away in shame if the top is not in your game today.
It just is what it is and offers you the challenge of making it to the top.

Do you have what it takes today?
Can you overcome yourself?
For you see this game, this very game.
Has no opponent lined up against you.
No eyes to stare into and draw your desire.
No teammates to urge you on.
No team exists in fact in this journey.
Each step is your own.
Do you have the desire?
Can you find it within?
It is not just given to you.
No fans to cheer you on.
Nobody at the top calling you to the finish.
Look around, it is you and it is the mountain.

Dig deep, look within yourself.
Take another step!!! And another.
Each adds up and each takes a toll.
Overcome the fear.
Overcome the fatigue.
Overcome the doubt.
Take another step.
Dig deeper.

Sweat, blood, and tears may all be part of this game.
In the end though the summit is yours.
It is your victory.
It is your soul that can now be at ease.
You dug deep, took step after step.
Found strength when you thought you had none.
Found faith when you were ready to turn around.
You battled to the top.
Look around and see what the mountain shares with you now.
The view is its gift. The gift it gives to all who make it to the top.
No age limit. No speed limit. Nothing but your demons.
Conquer them and you grow inside too.

A mountain.
A game.
Life.
