Eye to eye

I saw it today.
Stared straight into its eyes.
We were face to face.
No where for me to go.
Here it was and here I was, together.
My heart raced.
Perspiration poured from my very soul.
Fear shook me to my core.
Death was right before me.
I was scared to follow him.
It looked like he knew the way to Hell.
A journey I didn’t want to begin.
I wasn’t ready yet to move on.
Let me stay I pleaded.
A finger waved and the lights dimmed.
Death was walking away.
And I was following him.
Fear began to ease.
Heat began to rise.
I left it all behind.
And then I prayed for one last chance to change my ways.
I stopped and death, he kept walking.
A hand on my shoulder scared me more.
Turned me around once more.
Last chance was in order.
Live right from right now.
Death scared me straight from Hell.
I want to walk.
Walk a better path.
So it will light in the end.
I can’t take the long walk too the dark.
Gonna live life right.
