I found this today.
It brought me back in time.
I don’t know why I still have it.
I didn’t expect to find it.
I didn’t expect to have the flood of feelings.

I hold it in my hand and look down upon it.
I used to wear it and half was yours too.
I remember the good times of time gone past.
What fun we had back when we were just too young.
This little piece of silver heart that belonged to you.
Do you remember that day way back when?
We bought one, split in two, a piece for me and a piece for you.

It was our love or so we said back then.
What did we know about love back then?
Two kids dreaming and hoping for life together.
Yet to young to be able to know how silly it was to dream so big.
We dreamt big back then and reached for the stars too.
Isn’t that what made it so fun to be with you?
We professed our undying love and meant it too.
Did it last? Hell no, but this piece right here.

Has brought me back to remembering you!!
Remembering a time when all was so fine.
A time that everything was always new.
You were the one, the one I loved back in the day.

Yet it brings me smiles even a I turn gray.
