Momma where did you go?
You brought me here and then you left.
Said you would be back again.

The day went by and I kept watching.
The sun went down and I watched still.
No sign of you.

Finally the tears helped me close my eyes.
I awoke the next morning to the sun shining.
I looked for you Momma but still no sign.

Where did you go?
When will you come back again?
So many nights have gone by Momma.

So many that I have become a man.
I still don’t understand.
Where did you go?

I still look for you and hope to hear.
That Momma has come to take her baby home.
Tears sometimes till help me sleep.

No I walk the streets looking for you.
Watching other Mother’s with there boys.

I promised God to bring you back and I would be easier to handle.
What did it all mean? I was just too young to know.

Now I can understand if only you were here to explain.
