Mystery Man
You are a mystery to me.
You passed on way too soon.
I was just a young girl.
To young to know.
Daddy why did you have to go?
A mystery to me is what you are.
I look up at all those stars.
Wondering if that is where you are.
Could you be looking down on me?
Down on me. From up above.
From up above in that great big sky.
Are you proud of what you see?
Daddy where do I find the answers?
How can I know what you were like.
How can I know if you are proud of me.
Daddy you are a mystery to me.
Some tell me stories and some tell me tales.
Of how you used to be Daddy.
But all I got of you is right here with me.
A picture or two of you, a pocketknife, and a dime too.
It doesn’t tell me a lot about you.
It is what they gave me.
And said it belonged to you.
A mystery man you are to me.
Help me, oh, help me please.
I wanna know my Daddy.
Help me unsolved this little mystery.
You are a mystery to me.
Do I have your eyes?
Or maybe your smile.
I just so wish we could talk for awhile.
And unravel the mystery man.
The mystery man you are to me Daddy.
I wanna just sit and talk awhile.
Maybe even walk awhile Daddy.
And unravel the mystery man.
Some tell me stories and some tell me tales.
Of how you used to be Daddy.
But all I got of you is right here with me.
A picture or two of you, a pocketknife, and a dime too.
Daddy I didn’t get to know you at all.
Now I just need you to know.
Do I have your eyes?
Maybe your smile?
Mystery man please tell me.
Cause I just wanna know.
What part of me is part of you?
Mystery man, mystery man to me.
The mystery man you are to me Daddy.
I wanna just sit and talk awhile.
Maybe even walk awhile Daddy.
And unravel the mystery man.
